How to Make a Healthier Sangria

Sangria is super popular during the summer and fall months because it can be so refreshing and is so easy to prepare for all of those social functions and events. It’s so festive that in December, it has its own special food holiday on December 20 and people serve it at holiday gatherings. Unfortunately, the sugar content can be a little high. I wrapped my Christmas presents early this year

“I wrapped my Christmas presents early this year, but I used the wrong paper. See, the paper I used said ‘Happy Birthday’ on it. I didn’t want to waste it so I just wrote ‘Jesus’ on it.”

~ Demetri Martin

Been there done that! LOL. And actually, I have memories of actually doing this on purpose when we accidentally ran out of Christmas wrapping paper. How does one do that? Well, I am ashamed to say that I have done so quite easily from time to time. I haven’t yet mastered that art of having too much on hand like my parents always did. I may have mentioned before that my mother would occasionally just give up and put it all in a bag and we would go “fishing” inside of it. Of course, we were much older at that point. What silly goofs have you made during the holiday season?

Enjoy a Sparkling Pomegranate Cocktail and Mocktail!

The holiday season may elicit thoughts of cranberry everything, but that isn’t the only reddish fruit out there. I also love pomegranate. (The pomegranate mimosa my local bar and grill used to make is still my favorite!) So why not try it as a holiday cocktail and mocktail? Sparkling water gives you the fancy and festive fizz of champagne. Serve in decorative holiday-themed glasses for even more seasonal cheer! Want to keep it non-alcoholic? All you have to do is leave out the vodka. Your whole family will enjoy it before or during dinner!

Yield: 2 drinks
