What kind of research did you have to do for this book?
I drew on my real life experience having a disabled sister.
Which character was your favorite to write?
I enjoyed writing Alana. I thought she was a heroine everyone could root for.
To which character did you relate the most?
I related most to Alana because I experienced what it was like being the younger sister of a woman who needed to be looked after.
What was one of your favorite scenes?
My favorite scene is the beginning of the story when both characters are madly in love and jump into marriage.
Will we see these characters again?
Yes, you can see Max in Holiday Lights, and you will see Max, Alana, and Henry in Cowboy Blues, the follow up.
What do you hope people will get out of your book? How do you make yourself stand out in this genre?
I think the fact that I bring realism to my fiction is what sets me apart from authors who write to what they think readers want versus me writing to what I know people like me want.
Tell us about your other published works.
This is my second novel under the pen name Cristina Castilla. I also write under the pen name Michelle Alstead which features stories heavily based on my own life.
What are you currently reading? Up next on your TBR?
I just finished Jessica Simpson’s novel Open Book. It was entertaining and a refreshingly honest perspective about a famous life. I am currently working on my next novel, Cowboy Blues.
When not writing, what can we find you doing?
I am a mom to a fabulous son with an amazing brain. I’m with him as much as I can be. If I’m not with him or writing, then I’m working my other two jobs as an educational trainer and business owner.
