#Interview with Parker Fairchild, author of Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship

The Christmas season is coming, so that means it’s time to read all of the holiday stories! Today you’re getting a chance to take a peek inside of Christmas on a Cruise Ship by Parker Fairchild and then read a conversation with the author. You can then follow the tour to ask more questions or just share your thoughts along the way. Best of luck with the giveaway!

Chemist and budding romance writer Olivia Chasen is on a cruise to avoid spending Christmas with her beautiful twin sister and new fiancé—Olivia’s ex. Now, thanks to her lonely, intoxicated ramblings on Santa’s lap, her fellow passengers think she’s in love with a fictional character.

Former Navy SEAL Commander Jace Morse has dealt with plenty of unusual situations in his career, but he’s never had the honor, the pleasure, or the privilege of being a beautiful and intelligent woman’s fantasy hero come to life. While he hasn’t officially met the sexy chemist, he’s sure eager to explore the chemistry that’s sizzling between them.

Bringing the charming SEAL together with the skeptical Olivia is going to take more than just Christmas cookies and a little help from Mrs. Claus; it’s gonna take a heaping dose of Christmas magic.

Read an excerpt:

“What is it, sweetheart?” His eyes burned with love and desire, and she wanted to cry and dance at the same time.

Instead, she did the most un-Olivia thing—she grabbed his head and yanked his mouth down onto hers!

Cheers and catcalls erupted from the small assembly, and she distantly heard people chanting her name. Somewhere, she thought she heard someone shout, You Go, Girl, but she wasn’t sure. She was only into kissing Jace!

Describe your book in one sentence or fewer than 25 words.

Girls, want to dream up your perfect man? Well, our heroine, Olivia, does just that, and she meets him in person on a Caribbean cruise.

What was the inspiration behind this book?

I began “Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship” while sailing on a Caribbean cruise some years ago. Then, on a cruise to Hawaii, I met my husband, Jason. I completed the book once we were married, and I love to tell people that I shaped my hero Jace after my hubby Jason.

What kind of research did you have to do for it?

Many fun cruises have given me much inspiration, research, and real-world experience in which to set my novel on a cruise ship. While the Serendipity is a fictional cruise ship, many of the experiences and events described in the book are based on real cruise ship happenings.

Will we see these characters again?

While they won’t be the heroine and hero in the next book in The Perfect Pairings Series, Olivia and Jace will have a role. And, of course, the hero and heroine of this next book are none other than bad girl Jane and Navy SEAL Duke from this book.

Why should we read your book?

My book is a cheerful holiday read that will put a smile on your face. After so many sad and difficult months of COVID, “Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship” will make you happy and restore your belief in the power of love, friendship, and family.

What do you hope people will get out of your book?

I hope that when people read the last words of “Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship,” they’ll feel uplifted from a funny and joyful read that’s left a smile on their face. I will say, though, there is one scene that touches on the troubling issue of PTSD among our veterans and shows how we have a long way to go in terms of helping those who have given so much to their country.

On what are you currently working?

I’m working on the sequel to “Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship,” which is the second book in The Perfect Pairings Series.

When not writing, what can we find you doing?

Reading is a huge passion of mine. I also love traveling—especially cruising—and exploring new places. As a foodie, I like to cook and bake and share this passion with family and friends through entertaining. And speaking of entertaining, game nights are always fun. On the crafty side, I knit, crochet, and lately, I’ve been getting into painting. Athletically, I’ve always been a water person who’s happy to be swimming and snorkeling.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

After I stopped screaming and hopping with excitement, I’d make the following plans.

I’d donate funds to help our veterans especially those like the characters in my book “Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship.”

I’m an animal lover, so I’d also give money to save the earth’s many endangered and compromised creatures large and small and every size in between.

Next, I’d indulge my family with all the luxuries they’d like.

Lastly, for me, I’d buy my dream home and travel the world.

Parker Fairchild is a model, social media copywriter, and freelance writer with multiple writing credits. A Virginia native, she and her husband had their own shipboard romance as they met on a cruise ship tender in Maui, and as her mom is fond of saying, “they haven’t stopped talking since.” When she’s not busy playing with words, she loves spending time with her husband and family in Arizona where she now resides.

Parker Fairchild will be awarding a $25 Amazon or Barnes and Noble GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour.
