What was the inspiration for Mirror Image?

My inspiration for Mirror Image is Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde. I was watching a movie about them and then it went to a commercial with twins. I made the connection but came out so much more.

Who is your favorite character and why?

It has to be Jazz. For everything she went through, she’s strong and stubborn enough to endure the tragedies in her life. Jazz doesn’t let anything stand in her way so she can find peace and happiness in her life.

Which character is most like yourself?

Wow…I would have to say, Jazz. I had to traverse through breast cancer, loss of a sibling at a young age, divorce and an auto-immune disease, I also learned to be strong and stubborn to get what I want out of life.

Without any spoilers, what is your favorite scene in the book?

I hate to say but the end, when Lola breaks down to Jazz. I cried when I wrote.

Will we see these characters again?

Most likely not. They moved on with their lives.

What do you want readers to take away from your work?

My stories have characters with real life damage and situations. I put them through the ringer. But that’s Life. Stuff happens that can knock you down. Strive for that Happy Ending and don’t let anything stop you from getting what you want. And after reading my stories, I hope they can look at lives with better appreciation and wanting to read more of my books.

Tell us a little bit more about your other published works.

My first published Romantic thriller book is called Forgetting Jane. The story about half buried amnesiac woman found in a small Wisconsin town. Through investigation police chief uncovers a bigger mystery that is connected to the killer, victim and mystery of the girl in the yellow dress.

And I have a contemporary novella called Sweet Reunion, A Landry Brothers Duet part 1. It’s about a Chicago bakery owner is in dire straits because of her partner taking off with the shop’s cash. And who comes in to help save her from closing, but her college love. Conflicting love, past hurts and sweet treats to feast on.

What is it that drives you to write?

I have a strong imagination. And I love to see my stories down on paper and sharing them. It also helps clear the clutter I have in my head. lol

What was the best writing advice you ever received?

No matter if you write for just self enjoyment or for publication, write everyday…especially if you want to be published. It’s good practice. The more you write, the better you get and more you want to do.

Do you have a writing routine that you follow?

Yes. I’m up at the butt crack of dawn, and depending on which is pressing me, I write or edit about three hours in the morning. Lunch. Do what I need to do in real life and the afternoon, I put in about four to five hours.

When not writing, where can we find you?

Home most times. Or running errands, and/or with friends.

What is something from your bucket list that you have accomplished?

Being published.

That you have yet to do?

Visit Australia and New Zealand! Have always wanted to go there.

What is something readers may be surprised to learn about you?

I’m not sure about this one. I’m pretty open.

Anything else you would like to add?

Yes. Look for my next book, Sweet Redemption, A Landry Brothers Duet part 2 coming very soon. Sign up for my newsletter and you’ll get first hand information on my up and coming books and events.

Meet Pamela Foland, author of the Megan’s World series

Connecting via Fiverr, I had the opportunity to “meet” author Pamela Foland while she was looking for some promotion for her middle grade book series, Megan’s World, that revolves around a girl named Megan with a big heart for animals. Megan’s adventures start when she finds four abandoned kittens that she takes home to nurse, even though her parents have told her she is not yet ready to have a pet of her own. Her next adventure comes in the form of learning how to pet-sit. Here is an opportunity for us to get to know both the author and her books a little bit better. Please note that some affiliate links are present in this post. When clicked on, they may provide me with a small commission to support my websites.

Pamela Foland, thank you so much for taking time to chat with us today. Continue reading “Meet Pamela Foland, author of the Megan’s World series”

Into the Wild: My Three-Fold Love Affair, a New Year’s Retrospective

This year, I ended up staying home for New Year’s Eve. I didn’t even have any alcohol for probably the first time since I was in high school, many, many years ago. Part of it was the fact there was a windchill warning, with really low temps and significantly lower windchills. I hate being cold and it doesn’t make for fun walking. Also, I had some health issues going on and wasn’t feeling up to it. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. I did write out my affirmations for the year and a few goals. (I don’t believe in resolutions because why set yourself up for failure?) One of those goals was to finally do some more writing and reflecting on this blog. So that is part of the reason for sharing this post. But then I also rang in the New Year by watching one of my all-time favorite movies, Into the Wild. (Yes, you are going to find a few affiliate links in this, which can help me earn a few pennies to support this site, but in no way influence my thoughts and opinions.)

I do remember hearing the original story on MTV News back in 1992. As a coming of age teenager, I found it an intriguing one. And then I put it out of my mind until this movie came about. It looked like a good movie, and of course I wanted to check out something for which Eddie Vedder had done the entire soundtrack. I was immediately sucked into the story and have revisited it numerous times since the movie came out in 2007, especially during times of deep reflection. What better time than New Year’s Eve?
